<p>When the opportunity arose to purchase three consecutive lots alongside Idaho’s <a href="https://visitnorthidaho.com/activity/hayden-lake/" target="_blank">Hayden Lake</a>, Denise Morrison jumped at the once-in-a-lifetime chance. The creative director of <a href="https://www.morrisoninteriors.com/" target="_blank">Morrison Interiors</a>, wanted to design and build a multigenerational vacation home that blended into the unspoiled wilderness surrounding it. The result: a 7,200-square-foot sanctuary that sleeps 16, where her children and grandchildren can make memories for years to come. We spoke with Denise to learn about the inspiration behind her design choices and how she dreamed up “a legacy property designed to be cherished by generations&quot;.</p>


<h2>Guest Bathroom</h2>
<p>To balance the visual movement in the countertop slab in the guest bathroom, Morrison opted for the <a href="/content/annsacks/us/en/ceramic/collections/rake.html" target="_self">Rake</a> Stacked mosaic on the walls with gray banding toward the ceiling. For the floors, “the <a href="/content/annsacks/us/en/stone/collections/koros.html" target="_self">Koros</a> Gao Carrara and Blue Travertino mosaic almost looks like it has little tree shapes in it, which felt like a nod to the forest where our home is located,” says Morrison of the tiles that quietly reference the lakeside home's natural surroundings. “I love things that nod to the setting but aren’t too literal.”</p>


<h2>Kitchen</h2>
<p>The culinary heart of the home balances bold architectural elements with the crisp geometry of <a href="/content/annsacks/us/en/inspiration/made-by-ann-sacks.html" target="_self">MADE</a> Modern Peaked Diamond Curved tile, which Morrison used for the backsplash tiling in the kitchen. “I love how the terracotta [color] kind of pokes through at the ridges and emphasizes the shape,” she told us. “The handmade tile has a natural feel to it that really works in juxtaposition with the crisp slab effect of the hood.”</p>
<p>Morrison tiled the butler’s pantry (not pictured) with <a href="/content/annsacks/us/en/p/tile/savoy-2-x-8-ribbed-field-tile-as11682-field-2x8.html?skuId=AS11682-194&amp;finish=Show+All" target="_self">Savoy Ribbed in Linen</a>. “The Savoy collection is fabulous for a few reasons: It offers a lot of great colors, the textures are fabulous, and the price point is amazing,” she says. “The Ribbed in this secondary space complements the MADE tile in the kitchen beautifully.”</p>


<h2>Powder Room</h2>
<p>“The <a href="/stone/collections/noir-sully.html" target="_self">Noir</a> on the floors creates this sense of history and evolution, so the home doesn’t feel so brand-new. There’s something more interesting about a home with character, and this tile was a way to achieve that,” says Morrison of her powder room tile inspiration. She called on a fabricator to integrate the sink, backsplash, and countertop with graphic <a href="/stone/collections/terrazzo-renata.html" target="_self">Terrazzo Renata</a> Grigio Carnico mini slabs.</p>


<h2>Primary Bathroom</h2>
<p>Setting off a sculptural soaking tub by <a href="https://www.kallista.com/products/luxury-bathroom/bathing/tubs-whirlpools/argile-freestanding-bathtub-p33959-00/hw1-honed-white" target="_blank">Kallista</a> overlooking the lake, the limestone floors in the primary bathroom lend this jewel-box-like space an elevated level of comfort and depth. “I have always loved that antique ruffled edge on the Noir stone, which feels fabulous under your feet because it’s a little bit undulating and not sharp-edged,” says Morrison. The sense of quiet <a href="/content/annsacks/us/en/blog/how-to/create-a-luxury-retreat-at-home.html">luxury</a> is further enhanced with heated floors and a floor-mounted faucet.&nbsp;</p>


<h2>Junior Primary Bathroom</h2>
<p>The junior bath suite features a freestanding tub with an <a href="https://www.kallista.com/products/luxury-bathroom/faucets/bath-fillers/one-wall-mount-bath-faucet-handles-cross-p24508-cr/bl-matte-black" target="_blank">unexpected tub filler</a>, while the walk-in shower is tiled in <a href="/content/annsacks/us/en/ceramic/collections/made-modern.html" target="_self" rel="noopener noreferrer">MADE Modern Ribbed in Kuo Black Pearl Gloss</a> (not pictured) that complements the MADE Elements tile behind the vanity. “They’re the same almost black-green color, but the textured tile in the shower really creates an accent, whereas the flatter tile makes for an easier application when you’re working with sconces and mirrors,” says Morrison of her approach to creating layered definition and tone with bathroom tiles.</p>


<h2>Bunk Room Bathroom</h2>
<p>Designed for Morrison’s grandchildren, this bathroom has integrated step stools, durable aged-brass fixtures, and a playful color palette that includes <a href="/ceramic/collections/made-elements.html" target="_self">MADE Elements</a> field on the backsplash wall and the <a href="/content/annsacks/us/en/ceramic/collections/made-modern.html" target="_self" rel="noopener noreferrer">MADE Modern Split Left tile</a> on the shower walls (not pictured), each in striking Static Matte. “The tile is a really beautiful lake blue,” says Morrison. “I have granddaughters and grandsons, and I think that color works well for both.”</p>


<h2>Media Room</h2>
<p>Morrison injected playfulness into this lower-level lounge—designed as an extension of the lake landscape just outside the doors—with <a href="/content/annsacks/us/en/stone/collections/terrazzo-renata.html" target="_self">Terrazzo Renata</a> tile for the bar. “I wanted the media room to be a bit of a surprise,” she says. “The house has a pretty earthy color palette, and I went out there a little bit with this bold black and white fluted tile.” To eliminate the need for grout and give the illusion of a slab with a fluted effect, Morrison butt-jointed the 12-by-12 tile, creating a bold finish on the media room tiles.</p>
